The 42Crmo4+QT Hardness HRC

 42CrMo4+QT means this material is in the quenched and tempered condition (+QT).  42CRMO4 (+QT) medium carbon bearing steel in the form of hot rolled/hot forged quenched and tempered seamless forged parts. This specification covers Material Grade, Homogeneity, Microstructure and Mechanical properties. Forged parts produced with this steel are used for manufacturing bearing retaining parts. All other requirements, common to medium carbon bearing steel grades in the form of rolled/hot forged,quenched and tempered ring are specified in EN 10083-3 and ISO 683-17.

  • 42CrMo4+QT hardness in HRC: ≥53 (after flame or induction hardening)
  • 42CrMo4 hardness in HBW: ≤255 (treated to improve shearability); ≤241 (soft annealed)

Material 42CrMo4 Heat Treatment

  • Quenching temperature: 820 to 880 ℃ (Austenitizing period: at least 30 min; Quenching agent: Oil or water)
  • Tempering temperature: 540 to 680 ℃ (at least 60 min)
  • End quench test: 850 ± 5 ℃

42CrMo4 has high strength and wear-resistance,widely used in many industries.Components with high strength and toughness for cylinder rods, automotive parts,mechanical engineering, armament components,such as geer wheels,pinions,connecting rods,parts for mechanical engineering.
